says to -• The Spitfire •--•| Re: The wagons rumbled along slowly as the caravan moved along the road. the weather was hot and the afternoon did not bring any relief from the Tor tu Gor. The caravan consisted of 10 wagons an 20 pack kaiila carrying 100 lb baskets balanced on either side of the beast as they moved along, it was essential that the beasts carried balanced loads or they would not be able to cover the allotted 400 pasangs in a day. I sat upon the big black beast looking back and down at the approaching caravan my gaze sweeping of the single line of animals and wagons, the riders assigned to protect the caravan then across to the opposite hill ensuring that the outriders were in place sweeping the land before us as we traveled along that disaster riddled road. I was concerned about the safety of the caravan and its cargo not to mention the esteemed guests that traveled with us.

says to Let all who oppose my Ho: *Brinn and I were travelling .. not that light as I had hoped.. but .. that was because I made sure I packed everything. I was afraid that I would miss out on anything while being at my father.. with this freaking hot weather it was not kind to travel. The veil was irritating .. I hated it but the caravan Master had made sure that Brinn had insisted on wearing them .. "Loki You nut! " there was a soft curse spilling forth, ofcourse it was shielded by the veil and the depths of brown-green eyes were sparkling with annoyance.. my stomach had been turning into a big balloon! fuck! this was not good! my ankles! oh my ankles! swollen to the core! I was bloated... Our biggest wagons, were bearin the crest of Corcyrus. there were a whole lot of Guards in our company... the Bow I had used for shooting in the fair was resting behind the low bench, I was holding the reigns.. steering the black beast before the wagon

says to -• The Spitfire •--•| Re: The beast clawed at the earth beneath its paws as I watched the slow progress of the caravan. My clothing was dark, loose black robes making movement easy just like a Taharian tribesman. I had a sand scarf wrapped about my features and we rode without any home banners, the beast stood just below the ridge so that I was not silhouetted above the skyline hoping not to draw attention. My gaze swept once more across the caravan before kicking my heels into the big beasts side making it move swiftly down from the high ground and out keeping abreast of the front riders while a pasang ahead the scouts road also keeping to a low profile as they swept the way ahead. I the lance was stepped behind the saddle for traveling and easy to grasp and use when I needed it. on my left hip a 36" saber on the pommel of the saddle a horned bow and quiver of 30 arrows. Behind the saddle was a 15' weighted cast net with a 3lb bearded axe with a 36" haft placed with the haft to the right for a quick right handed draw. The beast moved swiftly forward as we scouted ahead my eyes scanning the shrubbery and hills ahead.

says to Let all who oppose my Ho: *emelyn was in the back, making sure that she kept out of the sun for now .. she would need to nap... I would ask her to hold the reigns when I would be sleeping. Or maybe Brinn would take the night. . I was not sure about it ... we had not been discussing this... in the sheets of my boots, were my daggers. I always carried them with me .. they were handy when you needed to cut meat or just something like that... the stare of brown-green eyes in the distance was making my eyes weary, watering .. I would be happy when we would reach that place .. or the first place to s top ... I was glancing left, I could see the turn in the caravan. they were slightly going left... We were in the middle or just something like in the middle ... there were numerous wagons before us, after us ... I smiled into the veil ... pearls of sweat forming on the curve of my forehead.... the padding of beasts heard, stampede sounds ... slow..

says to -• The Spitfire •--•| Re: I pulled the beast moving back now towards the road as I waved the other riders to scout up ahead. I came alongside the wagon that carried Brinn and his companion and rode alongside them for a while "its getting a little late I have sent the men ahead to scout for a place to camp for the night. I know there is a hidden well nearby here a few pasangs further up we can stop there." I gazed up towards the horizon noting that the Tor tu Gor would set in about two ahn so it was essential that we had set up camp before dark. It was not the issue trying to set up camp in the dark but the security aspect that it was the perfect time for an attack. I was not sure if Brinn had heard but I was sure that his companion must have I saw her slip into the back of the wagon just before I rode up beside them. With a nod of my head and a smile I kicked my heels into the kaiila's flanks making it leap forward and run throwing back its head and baring its teeth at the freedom of the reign and road.

says to Let all who oppose my Ho: *emelyn had been in the back .. I was seated upon the low bench.. and I was dealing with the beast when you rode next to me. . I held a smile upon my lips as you spoke to Josh, who had been taking place next to me ... He nodded and understood why now this camp had been needing to make up .... "good I am glad Sir Dhal. My thanks, I will pass the message to Brinn... I had been used to deal with things.. I had a high status in the city .. but out of the City, I was just .... a Woman ... The Men dealt with these kind of things. . on a daily base... I had to curb my tongue ... I thought about camping outside.. I had never been camping out .. I never had to .... was i excited..no I was scared shitless.. but I knew, with Brinn, Dhal, Josh an the other Men .. I would be safe.. well as safe as I could be. .. I was getting tired and I was more then done with travelling.. already! this was EXACTLY why I prefered the sea!

says to -• The Spitfire •--•| Re: The beast rode out fast heading up past the lead riders and wagons. I cast a glance back over my shoulders looking at the trail of wagons and beasts and the riders and beast masters as they controlled their beasts while they moved steadily ensuring that they has water when needed. Riding on ahead I saw two riders break out from the left and up ahead waiting for me to come abreast of them "what is it Kahil I asked "there is a place just two pasangs ahead that we can use as a camp it's open there is the well nearby and can be easily defended." I grinned and nodded "good get some men to prepare the camp site while a small group does a five pasang sweep around searching for signs and checking its all clear. I will meet you back in the camp site" he nodded and broke away riding hard to gather his men that had been scouting and checking the way ahead. The beast moved again swiftly enjoying the open road and then I saw the large open area that would easily be able to house the caravan with low hills that surrounded the low lying area we could place sentries up there to keep the caravan well protected. With water nearby and a secure site we would be fine for the night, we would leave the following moring before first light in the hopes that we would make good progress before the sun got too hot.

"Josh I am sure we are almost being at the place where we are going to set up camp ... I am delighted that finally we can stop.. " I didn't say it out loud but my ass felt like stone! for the next piece of the trip, I'd be taking a big piece of pillow! ... "Josh wake up emelyn, she needs to be awake, and please.. this time .. just don't touch her. She'll be squirming way to much and not think clearly.. " I shot Josh a look. surely HE wasn't going to listen. He loved torturing my girl... straightening my back, hearing it crackle and pop.. yes .. this was taking long ... but .. refreshing .... *

says to -• The Spitfire •--•| Re: I waited beside the road and as the lead riders cam into the opening they moved the leader in an open circle about the clearing to create a large ring for the wagons and beasts. Men quickly went about removing the baskets off the kaiila then seeing to the beasts with water and feed. It wa not long when men had started fires ensuring that the wood was dry and not green so that the smoke was kept to a minimum. Slipping off the back of the beast and tethering it handing the reins over to one of the men so that he could remove the saddle and also see to the watering and feeding of the beast. I headed down to the small hollow between two hill and found that two of the riders had pulled the large flat stone from over the entrance to the well. The hole was deep and well smoothed by hands that had dug this ancient well many years ago keeping it hidden. They had tied a blackened kettle to a rope and dropped it down the well drawing it up and with some light scrub made a fire that flared giving off excessive heat heating the water quickly before the light scrub had burned away. They immediately made tea while others drew water in buckets for the rest of the camp. I watched them and nodded as I went back to the camp to find myself a place to sleep and rest. Tomorrow would be a long day.
