I had slept and was now on Guard with Evan..... jamee now slept as The sun began to rise I would Move to jamee and give her a slight shake... she woke quickly and rolled over to gather her things...kneeling she would roll up her furs and tie The leather strapping quickly round The furs.... Both Evan and I had Our furs rolled and on our backs ready to head back to the caravans.....was not long and jamee was ready to return with us... I gathered a branch and ran it over the area we had slept ... and then moved out from the small clearing and Headed back towards The Road... as We moved to the road side There was a soft whistle.... looking across the road to the Area where The second team camped Evan whistled Back ...and with That we all walked out to continue along the sides of The road.......

I looked to the south to see The rest of My Archers enter the south end of the camp....I watched Them close as they moved to the fires to warm and get some Black wine...Now all 10 Archers were Back in camp safe........Chase moved Over to speak with me Letting Me know There was no sign of any Outlaws south of The camp... I nodded slow and Told him all was secure to the North also......a smile crossed there lips for We had Made it through the Night with no attempts from any of The raiders.... was then I called to jamee and had one of the Guards bring Me My kaiila.........
"you will all ride in the second caravan totay .. I will be riding on to see if I can find Dhal and find out News....with Luck They will not leave till we get there... they are not far up the road so Harta and get things moving....."
three Guards mounted There Beasts..... calling for the wagons to be ready to Move......and I mounted My beast holding out a hand for jamee to join me.....when she was in the saddle i would Kick at the Beast and make way out of camp with the guards......

says to --| Nyah |--..|Dhal al G: I too had slept lightly my blanket rolled up and tucked onto the back of my beast as rubbed the sleep from my eyes soraya came up bringing some water and stood waiting for me to hold out my hands, she poured the water into my cupped hands so that I could splash my face and wash away the sleep and grime. The sand scarf had been hanging to dry over night on a small bush along with hers and so taking it I wiped my face and hands before offering her a kiss in gratitude, no words were needed as silence was key. Taking the bota from her small hands taking a mouthful rinsing out my mouth then spitting the water out then drinking deeply before offering the bota back to my lovely beast.
I moved swiftly towards the kaiila that was tethered along with the others, some of the other men had already rolled up their gear and were getting their beasts ready. The night had not been eventful and was relatively quiet, I looked up at the twin pillars of the Ost Fangs judging that it would be another fifteen ehn before the Tor ti Gor showed the first light above the horizon. We needed to move, the caravan would follow within the ahn and we had to scout ahead although Kahil the Commander had already sent a small contingent out up ahead...I thought he has said that they were two teams of archers?

says to ALL: The beast was eager to run ...the reigns pulled tightly to keep Him in line... I managed to wrapp the scalf tightly round my lower face to cover my features as best I could.... then as the guards flanked me I kicked harder to the Beast and made off faster along the road to find the caravans ahead of us......it was dawn...so light was not so good But it was important That we Made it safe under the cover of first light.... I could see the fires in the distance and smell the smoke... We were getting closer.... I had not seen him for at least a hand and was wondering if all was well.....It was quiet only the sound of hoffs crashing to the dirt echoed The still surrounds.... as we moved along towards the camp... the beast slowed down some... men moved out over the road as if to block us from passing.... I smiled under My scarf and looked to the Guards...
pulling My scarf back slightly...her face could Now Be seen......
"Nyah Coultrain..." as the words left My lips my Back arched slightly as the Beast moved back then forward slightly....
"My Mate is here in this camp" I asked with no expression on my face
The guards with Me moved forward leaning forward Gripping the other mans arm......."Brother...We have come looking for Him ...Please let Him know we are here "
of course these men were never going to allow the likes of Us in the camp without permission from his Captain..... and he nodded and sent one of The young stable boys tending the animals to find his boss

I recognized the distinct figure of my companion her custom bow and quiver distinctly recognizable. I saw that one of the men that was detaining the riders look my way and with a wave I allowed him to allow them through, they had been on their own mission scouting and tracking, despite her being a merchant she was an outstanding archer, rider and hunter. I turned to soraya and pointed to Nyah and with a nod she laughed
I nudged the beast in the flanks making it head down towards where they were heading towards us to meet them "Tal love...good to see you, any news?"

He pulled his beast up just before he reached us his kaiila rearing and whipping its head, froth spittle on its bit as fangs flashed and clwas racked at the ground "come Captain Kahil the Command has made contact with the enemy a small skirmish about 10 pasangs from here. It seems like they are massing for an attack on the caravan. He has requested that you come forward with haste so that you and he can assess the situation?"

says to Let all who oppose my Ho: the caravan's guards seem well-armed and well-trained and the caravan has practiced procedures for meeting an attack. the slave goes over his commands in that eventuality...to push wagons into a circle and to see that goods and FW are in the middle, well-protected. he is not trained in fighting and of course is not allowed to touch weapons, but he knows should an attack come he must do what little he can to defend the caravan. he might be slain if he does, but then again, if he does not he would be slain, and in a long and excruciating manner, as an object lesson to slaves who might actually consider their lives worth as much as a Free's. but perhaps, should the attack be successful, the raiders would see him as of some value, if only for the galleys and mines. still, he offers a prayer to the PK's to guide the Master in this.

says to ..:: VIN ::..Property of: I nodded at the rider breaking off my discussion with my companion and followed him riding hard heading towards the north, following him along the road and just as we got to about 8 pasangs we wheeled off the road into a series of low hills there we found the rest of the small force of about 80 men waiting in a small valley between two relatively high hills in the range, I slipped off the beast moving quickly up the slope on the lee side heading towards the ridge as we neared it we stooped into a crouch and then crawled until we could peer over the ridge, I crept up next to Kahil laying there breathing deeply but steadily. I looked over the lower laying land and saw to my astonishment about 100 mounted men all armed with scimitars and lances. I knew immediately that they were here to attack the caravan.

I spoke in a low whisper to Kahil "bring up the archers I want three groups one here behind us covering the band below and I want two stopper groups one to the right my hand pointing out at a high hillock over to the right with archers and the other group over there at that low river bed they need to cover the opposite bank and hold it. The archers from behind us will break up the group below and as they run our stopper groups will cut them up"
The messengers slipped away from our sides to relay the instructions in haste and silence

PRIVATELY whispers to Let all who oppose my Ho: several guards race down from the ridge, bark out orders the slave cannot here, and the archers separate themselves into three groups and...in good formation..make their way quickly back up the ridge. he feels confidence as the men move swiftly and with determination. but where he will be when the sun sets, who will own him...the slave does not know.
